VALENTINES PRAYERS 

Send me no flowers,

Nor cards nor poems,

Nor even dark chocolate

(unless you insist),

For on this day of love

I understand beyond explanation

That God is love

And Jesus the proof.

So on this Valentines Day

And every day that passes our way

Send especially a prayer.

Pray that peace will increase;

Pray that mercy will be shared

Among friends, together with foe.

Pray that justice will rise;

Pray the rough places smooth,

The crooked paths straight.

Pray that faith will grow strong;

Pray that hearts weary with fear

Will be emboldened by hope.

Pray that love will mature, and prosper

Prevail and persist;

Pray that love’s joy will be shared

In generous measure;

Pray that love’s blessings

Will find every home, every corner,

Every nation and tribe.

Pray that you will receive

Love’s promise and proof-

But pray even more for the strength,

The devotion and courage

To labor at love

As long as you live.

May grace abound

Whenever you pray,

May love abide

From prayer unto prayer.
